How Often Do You Need to Blog?

It’s a question everyone asks me.

First, let’s examine the benefits of blogging. Then, I will address the question.

After reading this post, you’ll have a better idea of the blogging goals for your company.

The Benefits of Blogging

Blogs help bring more traffic to your website and potential leads that can convert to sales. What’s more, blog posts position your company as an authority. This establishes the know, like and trust factor with your audience.

There are so many reasons why you should blog for business.

Starting A New Blog

When my clients build a new website or start a blog, I craft 10 to 15 blog posts that customers can read immediately. This makes more of an impact instead of having just a few.

After this, it’s essential to post regularly to keep readers returning for more. You’ll need to batch your work to stay ahead of the game.

The blog schedule you set depends on several factors.

Quality and Consistency

Do you have the writing skills to produce high-quality blog content?  How long does it take you to write each post? You must set every post up on your website with full SEO and design elements. Do you have the time?

Writing blog posts for your company will save you money.  However, depending on your answers to the questions above, it might not be the best solution.

If you hire a content marketing writer and strategist, you’ll need a good one. These blog posts will represent your company and give your audience an overall first impression. Make it a great one!

If you hire a cheap writer, they will not have the experience. You might as well throw your money in the toilet and flush!

Remember, having one professional blog post per week is better than three mediocre ones for which you have paid the same price. Quality matters.

Track Your Traffic Channels

Frequently check your traffic channels through Google Analytics. Search engines and social media are the two top blog traffic generators.  Where is your traffic coming from? How can you get more of it?

If you want your blog posts to rank well in search engines, you must ensure that your content is SEO-rich. Use tools like Yoast to make your SEO sing.  Not sure how to achieve this?  Read 10 Ways to SEO-Friendly Blogs

Social media, on the other hand, has a short lifespan. After your post goes up, it has less than a day to generate a click before it goes to social media heaven. You can see that posting a link to your blog post just once on your social media platforms doesn’t get you very far.

Find the social media platforms that are your highest performers based on traffic and click rates. This may take several months to determine. Once you find the winning combination, double down. You don’t need to be on every social media platform.

The more eyes you have on your blog posts, the less pressure there will be on you to produce numerous quality blog posts per week.

The Posts You Have

How many blog posts do you currently have?

If you’ve been blogging for a while, your website may have enough juice to reduce the number of weekly posts. Here are some facts.

One study found that having 24 high quality blog posts can increase website traffic by 30 percent. Once you have published over 50 blog posts you can expect a 77% increase in traffic.

Your hard work will continue to pay off in time!

Companies with 400 published blog posts have double website traffic than those with 301-399 pieces of content. So, if you are hovering in the 300-plus zone, bumping the posts up over 400 can really gain some traction for your website.

Keep a running total of your traffic analytics at the 50, 100, 150, and onward marks. Do you see a traffic increase? Use this as encouragement.

In Conclusion

The more posts you have, the higher the traffic to your website. Keep your own pace that fits your time and budget.

Most importantly, publish high-quality content to keep your audience returning for more. Do not sacrifice quality for quantity.
