10 Ways to SEO-Friendly Blogs

Creating excellent quality blog posts takes time and a great deal of effort. SEO is an essential component of any blog post.

Let’s explore 10 Ways to SEO-Friendly Blogs .

Read on!

Writing Good Quality Content

SEO-friendly blog posts begin by creating good quality content. It must be something that people want to read. As I always tell my clients, articles and blog posts must be unique and written by humans for other humans.

Why does good quality content help you to create SEO-friendly blog posts?

Search giant Google rewards high-quality content by placing it closer to the top of page results. The company takes the (E-E-A-T) approach. This means Google ranks blog posts higher when they demonstrate Expertise, Experience, Authoritative, and Trustworthiness.

Original Content

Create original content. Copying and pasting content from other websites and claiming it as your own will lower the rank of your entire website. That is not what you want!

Ditto for your own content. Do not cut and paste content sections from one blog post to another to save time. This, too, will lower your Page Rank— even if you wrote the original content!

Using AI for Editing Only

AI should not be used to create content unless you want your blogs and articles to be similar to everything else on the internet.

Finally, although AI makes for a good first edit of the content that you have created, it will still need a final polish.

Keywords

Avoid keyword stuffing. This is essential.

Yes, keywords are essential, but I always encourage writing the article first and integrating the keywords second. This approach ensures a natural and seamless flow of the text, making it more enjoyable for your readers.

Effective URLs

The keyword you choose needs to be included in the URL. This represents your blog post. Additionally, the URL will give searchers an indication of what they will be reading.

An example of a good URL is the one I use for my portfolio.

I use my website name karenbarrwiter.com

At the end I used a backslash with the word portfolio like this /portfolio.

An example of a less effective URL would be placing numbers where the word “portfolio” is. It would be less clickable. The number 123 would not make sense to the reader.

Formatting

Even the best-written blog posts can be overlooked when not formatted correctly.  Read How to Format Blog Posts.

Header Tags

Another on-page SEO factor is header tags.Header tags refer to H1 through H6, with H1 ranking as the most important.

Use H1 for the title of your blog posts. Use H2 through to H6 for other subheadings that are less important. These header tags break up the text on your page.

Creating Internal Links

Lead your readers and web crawling bots through your website with internal links that can provide more information about a topic.

For example, this post is about blogging, and within it, I can draw the reader’s attention to other posts about blogging, such as 6 Ways Blogs Provide Value. All the reader must do is click.

Alt Text

Alt Text, also known as alternative text, is descriptive text that helps search engines understand what appears in an image within your blog. It also allows for website accessibility for customers with visual impairments.

Install Yoast

If you are using a WordPress or Shopify site, install Yoast SEO. I cannot stress this enough.

Yoast SEO is a plugin that guides you through all your SEO needs for every post. It uses a stoplight system.

Green means SEO is close to perfect. Yellow signifies that some changes need to be made. A red light indicates you need to stop and try again.

If you are not using WordPress, don’t panic. There will be an SEO plug-in out there for the website platform you are using.
